Day 2 of the ADB Skills Forum in #Manila brought a truly groundbreaking moment – witnessing Ethiopia’s delegate share invaluable insights on the #TVET sector’s challenges and opportunities across #Africa during the plenary session “Shaping Investment Priorities in Education and Skills Toward a Sustainable Future.”
What made this particularly significant was seeing Africa represented on the panel alongside prestigious institutions like Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the The World Bank – a powerful testament to the growing recognition of Africa’s voice in global education and skills development dialogue. This collaborative platform brought together development partners and regional expertise to shape investment strategies that will impact millions of learners.
This marks a historic first: Asian and African nations coming together to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in technical and vocational education. The dialogue revealed striking parallels in our challenges – skills gaps, youth unemployment, and the urgent need for modernized training infrastructure – while highlighting unique regional approaches to workforce development.
